New to Houston

Hello all,

Just returning from a deployment overseas and moved to Houston with my Fiance about a week ago. I am looking for anyone to ski with. I do not have a boat as of now, so if anyone ever has room for a third hit me up! experienced driver with gas money. intermediate level barefooter. thanks in advance!

What Are Your Goals for this Year 2012?

The 2012 season has already begun. What are you working on this summer? What are your goals? No matter how big our how small, share them with us. The best way to begin a goal is to put it in writing.

My personal goal is 3-fold. I'd like to do the following 3 things all in the same day, or same weekend: 1. Shoot under 80 in a round of golf, 2. Run the slalom course at 28-off 34mph, and 3. Run a barefoot trick pass of over 4000 pts.

Which on of those 3 things do you think is the most difficult?

My alternate goals are to help teach my daughter how to do a toe-up, a front-back and BF on her feet, and toe-turns on shoes.

search for local footers

Hello! Just want to introduce myself. I've been footing for a few years off-and-on with some skiing/wakeboarding/foiling in between.

How do I search for footers in my area? I know there is a feature for that on this site somewhere, just can't seem to find it. Looking to do more footing this year here in NJ-PA area. I have a MC Prostar 190 if anyone wants a pull.

Amateur scoring??

I thought that the pro freestyler's scoring is what decides the winner of the Amateur videos. In round 3 you used the celebrity panel scores. I don't even see where you averaged in the pro scoring. Was there a change or was I mistaken?

Are neck injuries worse forward or backwards?

Hi everyone!

I have recently nailed the back deep and am starting to get better at my backwards. I ended up getting a neck brace because I got tired of having to lift my head out of bed with my hand and feeling like I got punched in the throat for 4 days after back deep attempts.

I really dislike the neck brace because it feels like I'm being strangled while in the back position and seems like it makes it very hard to acheive perfect posture.

I have been footing for 17 years now and have crashed every which way possible going forward and never have hurt my neck badly at all. I don't want to wear my brace full time, but if it's a real safety concern then I will. I can deal with the odd sore neck, I'm just kinda worried about more serious neck injuries in regards to backwards.

My question to the more experienced backwards footers is, do the neck problems continue even after the learning phase? For instance, are you more prone to whiplash at 25mph, rather than catching at a higher speed where you would get flipped further around and not land on your butt and snap your head back? Is there really more chance of neck injuries going backwards than foraward?

Just happened to be watching the winning freestyle challenge video of Brendan Page and was just wondering about the shoe skis that he was wearing when going over the jump ramp. Exactly what shoe skis are those he is wearing? Definitely bigger than the BFC pair that I currently own

2011 US Nationals Live Online

The 2011 US Nationals are going to be broadcast live on the web. The World Barefoot Center is again broadcasting the US Nationals live from the Barefoot Ski Ranch. Go to http://www.worldbarefootcenter.com/ for the video feed. They are just getting set up today so there may be a few issues with the audio/video feed but they should have everything worked out by competition time tomorrow. They will also be broadcasting the Jump Jam Cash prize event on Friday Night.

Torn pectoral muscle tendon

Has any one torn a pec muscle? I did three weeks ago. I was done with my run and felt something hit my heel, so I let go of the handle, caught a toe and went head over, the next thing I knew I was waiting for the boat with a pain in my arm and chest. I went to the doc, and one week later had the tendon hog tied back where it should be. No skiing for the rest of the summer!

David Small Barefoot Clinic in Montreal, QC, Canada

For those interested, David Small will be hosting a barefoot clinic in Les Cèdres, Quebec (Canada) and there are still some blocks available.

Located just 15 minutes West of Montreal, the clinic will be held on the on the Soulanges Canal, which is the actual site of the 2011 Canadian Barefoot Nationals that will be held the following weekend. The section of the canal is 3,8km long and conditions are almost always perfect. There will be a jump on site for anybody who would like to train for the jump event. The boat used will be a Sanger DXII (MX6.2) with SFH.

This is a great opportunity for any Northern footer that would like to get training from a world champion without traveling to Florida. While you are up here, you can also participate in the Canadian Nationals that will be held from August 18^th to the 21^stand is opened to non-us residents as well.

Prices are just to cover cost (Dave’s fee and gas) so they may vary. The more people in the boat (max 4 footers), the cheaper it will get. So far costs are down to 140$ for a half day block or 250$ for a full day. If all blocks are filled (4 footers for the entire clinic) the prices will drop to 120$ for a half day block and 200$ for a full day.

If you are interested, please PM me and I will gladly give you more information and help you with travel and lodging if required. A 50% deposit is required; places are reserved when confirmation of deposit is sent.

Ruptured eardrum

I ruptured my eardrum today doing a long-line reverse toe hold. I saw a doctor and they said I had a hole in my eardrum and recommended seeing an Ear Nose and Throat doctor. Hopefully I will be able to get an appointment tomorrow and get back on the water soon.

From the research I did online healing time ranges between 2 weeks to 3 months... Has anyone here ever suffered a ruptured eardrum? if so, how long before you got back into the water?

us gear handles

Getting ready to order a new front toe KSO handle. Mine old us gear handle doesnt even have the float's if that tells you how old it is, but when I went to place order there are so many options. Whats the difference between offset core VS. elliptical. Why the leather & ostrich? One last question, Whats the purpose of the bear trap? I guess I missed handle etiquette 101. Any in put would sure help. Thanks

2011 Sanger/BFC Canadian Promotion Program

Sanger boats and BarefootCentral.com are proud to present the 2011 Canadian promo program. Here are some answers to some frequently asked questions.

What is the program about?

The 2011 Sanger/BFC Canadian promotion program offers to the first two 2011 Sanger DXII buyers that would be willing to pull the 2011 Canadian Easterns, Canadian Nationals and the Quebec provincials a 7000$ rebate and a Super Fly High tower extension (999$ value).

Who is eligible?

Anybody is eligible. The program is intended but not limited to Canadian buyers. The buyer must commit to tow his boat to Les Cedres, QC (15 minutes west of Montreal Island) from August 18^th to the 21^st2011 in order for it to be used as the official tow boat of the Quebec Provincials, Canadian Eastern and Canadian Nationals. The great thing this year is that they are all located at the same site and held on 4 consecutive days.

What are the conditions?

Conditions are as follows;

The buyer must purchase, but is not limited to, options required for the boat to be recognised as a sanctioned towboat. These options include: Engine upgrade (Mercruiser MX6.2* 340hp or Indmar 340HP), barefoot package and ProFlight Swoop tower.

*The Mercruiser MX6.2L engine is not available for US residents.

The buyer is responsible to tow his boat, at his expense, to the site (Canal Soulanges in Les Cedres, QC) and back.

The boat must be available for the 4 following events:

Practices (Thursday August 18^th from noon to dusk)
2011 Quebec Provincials & 2011 Canadian Easterns (Friday August 19^thall day)
2011 Canadian Nationals (Saturday August 20^th all day)
2011 Canadian Nationals FINALS/OPEN (Sunday August 21^st, ends early afternoon)

The buyer can drive in part or in whole if qualified, otherwise qualified tournament drivers will be driving the boat.

Boat must be ordered before May 30^th 2011.

What does the rebate consist of?

The base deal is as follows. The buyer is not limited to these options and can chose to add any other options at normal MSRP pricing.
