BFC German Team Sponsorship

Ok, I just read the announcement about BFC and Eagle canceling their
sponsorship with the Germans and I am wondering if there is more to this
story then what Chuck has chosen to post. In fact it seems that Chuck
is trying to justify the canceling of the sponsorship. In the
announcement Chuck stated that Eagle and Barefoot Central were
sponsoring the team with suits, heater shirts, padded shorts, ropes and
handles. It was never mentioned that the sponsorship included training.
Do all of the Eagle and BFC sponsored skiers have to let Chuck know
where they are choosing to go for training/coaching? Last I knew BCF
and Eagle did not own a barefoot ski school and so why would the German
team have to check in with Chuck before booking training? Does Chuck
hold a grudge against KSO because of a failed prior business
relationship? Is that the real reason why the sponsorship was canceled?
I bet that if the German's were to post their side of the story it may
paint a different picture.

Forum: General Discussions about 3-Event

Hi guys,

I've been barefooting for a few years now and am wondering what the ideal speed is for a confident barefooter. I currently foot at about 36mph and weigh about 94kg. Im jus wondering if upping the speed will make life any easier for me? I also feel that when i lift one foot out of the water that im extremely close to sinking.

Thanks.

Forum: Misc Topics

Mike Temby "I'm too sexy"

Hi All

I was really, really impressed with Mike's video. My wife gets bored with barefoot videos but she watched that one through with me twice and we laughed the whole time.

I have a plank which I turn around on etc but Mike's Walk Around Ski looks like it could be a much better thing. So a couple of questions, what speed was Mike doing (Mike are you here??) and where can I get a couple of those walk arounds exactly like that?

I've been blown away by the videos on here, skill, challenge and invention.

But Mike that video was awesome - if you are ever in Australia look me up.

Greg

Forum: Barefoot VIDEO Conversations

It appears that we have had the World Trick Record set again this tournament season. Earlier this year David Small set a new record with a run of 10950 points. Now Keith St. Onge has had a new record confirmed from his run in the Open Pro trick Finals at the US Nationals. The run has passed record review at 11250 points! Way to go KSO! David and Keith continue to push each other and raise the bar even higher. How long before we see a 12000 plus run stand up to review?

Forum: General Discussions about 3-Event

Dam-to-Dam '09

The granddaddy is getting ready to run again. Come experience the biggest and best of racing. Teams and individuals from across the country will be here providing great competition and even better camaraderie.

As usual there will be the pre-race parties, after race BBQ, Saturday Austin nightlife, and oh yeah, plenty of barefooting. There will be several boats / teams available for individuals that want to ski and don't have a team, just call and you are in. Multiple divisions covering just for fun to the Need for Speed.

Details: http://www.barefootaustin.org/

Prediction: Short of blowout wind, TopGun crushes the Dam-to-Dam record of 24:24 predicting under 24 minutes with a goal of 23:30. Mind you that requires the AVERAGE barefooting speed of 53+ MPH.

- Viper

Forum: Announcements about Barefoot Racing

Transition Watersports Endurance & Figure 8 Challenge

Coming up in 10 days is Transition Watersports fall Endurance and Figure 8 event.

Date: October 24th & 25th, 2009

Location: Lake Weir & Lake Bowers in Ocklawaha, FL

The tournament will consist of an endurance race around Lake Weir on Saturday followed by Sunday's figure 8 tournament on Lake Bowers.

http://www.transitionwatersports.net/events.htm

I talked to Nate this past week and they have boats / teams for any individuals that are looking for a team to ski on. Hat draw will fill out the teams of the individuals, and TopGun will be picking up 1 skier from the draw. Also, anyone that skis Saturday in the endurance event will receive a first round bye in the Sunday figure 8.

TopGun will be there in full force. Word has it that teams are training to make a run at us, which we really look forward to. As with each event this year, there is free day of free lessons with Keith St Onge for any team to take down TopGun.

See you there.

- Viper
Forum: Announcements about Barefoot Racing

Off Season Goals

We are just getting into what is the offseason for many barefooters. I thought that I would start a thread to stimulate some conversation about off season goals and what you plan on doing to obtain the goals. I will start with what I am working on this offseason; fortunately I live in Florida so I am able to foot all year although I do slow down a little during the cooler months.

Back wakes-I have really been working on my backwards barefooting especially back wakes. I have found that I am just not as comfortable footing backwards as I am forward. The plan is to foot backwards three runs for every run that I foot forwards.

Front toes-My reverse front toe is very weak to the point of not even being a viable trick in my trick run. So, when I am footing forward I will be working on the reverse front toe. Again I will be using a three to one ratio; three reverse toes to each regular toe.

I have found that it helps to talk about these goals with my skiing partners and have them talk about their goals as well. It helps to have someone hold you accountable for what you are working on and to not let you wimp out and just do the easy stuff you know you can do. This also helps bring into focus what is obtainable and realistic; as an example I would love to get turns dialed in at some point but I know that in order to get them consistent I need really strong ones and toes both front and back. So in order to meet the long term goal of consistent turns I first must get strong ones and toes.

The other part of my off season plan is to work on dry land practice. I have a rig in my garage with a couple of old handles and rope. It is attached to a large spring on the wall. The spring adds a pull to the rope that helps simulate a boat pulling. This allows me to work on proper form with a pull on the handle.

Then the final part of the offseason training plan is to work with some professional coaching. I have been skiing with David Small for the past couple of off seasons and he has really helped with my footing. He is now teamed up with KSO and formed the World Barefoot Center and so I plan on doing some skiing at their school this off season. It has helped that they have started a customer loyalty program that will give you discounts on gear as well as instruction.

I will post a status report as to how I am doing as the off season progresses. So let me hear from so other footers out there it is fun to hear what you are working on and to see how you plan on achieving your goals.

Forum: Misc Topics
